All Right, Z...

Word has reached CVG that a big Xbox 360 announcement will be made in the Middle East next week, which could well mean the region's introduction to Xbox Live.

We're reliably informed that invitations have been sent out for the Dubai-based event, which promises "big news" for Xbox 360 in the region.

Microsoft's console has already launched in the Middle East, though without its highly regarded online service. That's a bit like having bread without butter.

Since events and announcements are rarely ever made in the region, says our source, this could very likely mean the launch of Xbox Live in the Middle East. That means we'll have even more strangers swearing at us from foreign parts. Welcome aboard!

Microsoft UK was unavailable for comment when we picked up the phone, but we'll let you know if and when it gets back to us.

You should be ok because your xbox isn't tied with the Middle Eastern region code. You may be using your xbox in Egypt, but it should still be tied to the US.

Chances are I'm wrong and as soon as you plug in your box it will overheat and give you the RRoD.

By the way, my empty box arrives today. It takes 5 days for the box to get to you. Another 5 days for your xbox to get to M$ or wherever it goes. About 2-3 days for it to be repaired. And another 5 days to get back to you. That's 15 days of shipping. You'd think M$ would at least spring for 3 day select.

RRoD = Red Ring of Death.

Sometimes you can clear up the Red Ring of Death with a little anti-bacterial ointment applied liberally to the male genitalia.

Wait... maybe we're talking about two different RRoD's.

you ip tells xbox where you are at. if people are in a region where no servers are, you are accessing american server in middle east. then you slow down others you play with or get kicked off since you are traveling at greater distance. thus the pay service doesn't offer the consumer with the best service. you will not be allowed to access live unless you bounce off your ip to an american server (proxy). maybe that will do it. i don't know how to do that shit. what i do know is that xbox will know you are not in the u.s. unless you hide it.
