I know I said I wouldn't get Halo 3 until later if at all, but I did throw in the caveat that I would probably get it sooner than I thought at that time. Well, I had to stop at Staples to pick up a color laser printer for the office, which is right by my local GameStop. I couldn't help myself... like a moth to a flame, I stopped in and walked out with a copy of Halo 3. I feel like a dirty dirty dirty girl, but absolutely cannot wait to go home and play. I don't care if a 10 year old is going to pwn me.
I am really curious if they ordered a bunch extra in addition to the pre-orders, or if they sold me a copy that really should have gone to some other uber dork. I couldn't find Guitar Hero 2 for weeks, but to find and buy Halo 3 at the first place I looked ON RELEASE DAY? Jesus Tatas! My suggestion to anyone who has the slightest bit of patience is to keep checking the Target ads. Target had Gears for $40 about two weeks after release. Also GameStop will give you a 20% bonus on trades towards Halo 3. Time to finish the fight, if I can finish the work day.

I worked until 11PM last night, then went directly to Game Stop with a friend to wait in line for an hour to get a copy of Halo 3 (even though I don't even have a 360.) We went back to his place and played 'til like 3:30 in the morning. Let me just say that it's F'in awesome! The maps are incredible looking in multiplyer (Zanzabar is still there - its the one with the rotating fan-thingy in the middle), and we even got to play a little co-op campaign. It's no secret that I've wanted a 360 for some time now, but I HAVE to save money for the wedding so right now it,s outta the question. Nevertheless, I've never craved a 360 as much as I do right now with the release of Halo 3! I'm even pumped about the Halo edition 360, although I'm not sure if it's worth an extra Benjamin just for a green Xbox with the charge-n-play controller (why wouldn't they bundle the game with the system anyway?)
Same thing I thought. Why would the special edition system not come with the game? Normally I wouldn't consider a special edition console, but the Halo 3 console is a different story. This is like freaking Super Mario 3 for the Nintendo big. This is like Princes Diana dying in a car crash big. Remember where you were at this 09.25.07. Halo 3 is going to generate too much traffic for the Internet to handle or something like that. Something big will come out of it.
By the way, Chump and myself were at the St. C. Walmart going through the bargain CD bin when Diana died. We watched coverage on about 21 TVs and found classic CDs like Pearl Jam's Jeremy single and the Clancy Brothers - 28 Irish Pub Songs.
Shit, still 2 hours and 10 minutes of work remain. VJG JHo is probably finished with the game already.
just got home. had the games since 802am. left work, went to the nearby target, bought it, back to work; all in 20 minutes.
...from 28 Irish Pub Songs: Whiskey yer the devil, yer leadin' me astray. and I also recall a title of "Real Old Mountain Dew." I can remember that, but I forgot all about watching Diana coverage on all those WalMart TVs.
But yeah, I agree that this is going to lead to something... possible an internet crash. At 1AM, there was approximately 63,000 player on Live, and I would guess that 98% were playing Halo 3. (Just for statistics sake, 1% were playing any other game but Halo, and the other oblivious 1% were playing Halo2 wondering where everybody was at.) Again, that was at 1AM when only the east coast gamer had Halo3. I'm sure that grew linearly within the next few hours. I can't believe that Xbox's Live servers are still up and running.
at 6:30 pm last night, over 300,000 were online playing multiplayer
